Scott Roberson, Emerald Society Founding Member, long time Atlanta Police Officer and friend of many was killed on December 30, 2009 in Afghanistan during a suicide bombing.
Remembrances may be made in Scott’s honor to the Metropolitan Atlanta Police Emerald Society (MAPES), PO Box 79053 , Atlanta , GA 30357 , Attn: Scott Roberson Scholarship Fund.
There are several MAPES members who are planning on going to and marching in the St. Patrick's Day Parade in Savannah, Georgia March 17, 2011.
Hotels near the parade route are either booked already or if they have rooms available the price range is $200 - $300 per night. There are less expensive rooms outside the city which range from $100 - $140 per night which are about 1-3 miles away from the parade route. There are rooms out even further ranging from $50 - $100 per night.

The Annual MAPES Picnic will be rescheduled for possibly October 2010. The "Atlanta Recreational Area” at Lake Allatoona is being refurbished and is not available in August.

MAPES automobile decals are numbered and available to MAPES members only at a cost of $5 each.
Each member will have the option of two decals for their household. When purchased, you are required to provide the tag number of the vehicle on which it will be displayed. These decals are closely regulated. If you sell your vehicle you are required to remove the old decal in order to obtain a replacement.
